With our key values of tolerance, independence, perseverance, respect and ambition, South Hetton Primary School takes pride in having the highest expectations of all our pupils and is passionate about knowing all our children individually so we can give them the maximum support and encouragement.
We challenge all children to strive for academic, creative, sporting and personal accomplishment with a commitment to the principles of inclusion and equality, within a broad, vibrant and enriched curriculum.’
Our children are given time to explore subjects using a range of rich literature and exciting ‘child driven’ topics to develop and deepen their understanding. Our key values of tolerance, independence, perseverance, respect and ambition ensures our children take ownership of and responsibility for their learning, so they have the confidence and curiosity to ask questions, solve problems and respond to quality feedback. Children and staff have a hard working ethos and are determined and ambitious.
In order to create an inclusive school where everyone can flourish, we promote an ethos of respect and diversity, which is valued and celebrated. Safeguarding and welfare is extremely important and pupils are taught the virtues of kindness, appreciation of others and tolerance of different thinking and ideas. We foster open and honest communication with parents, carers and specialists and actively seek to engage with all members of our community.
Staff are actively involved in identifying their professional needs and this leads to excellent teaching, teacher support work and motivated leaders. Staff are able to access a range of training from nationwide, local and Tudhoe Academy Trust specialists and share good practice.
It is our aim for all children to leave South Hetton as independent thinkers with and an abiding respect and tolerance for others. We aim to instil a lifelong love for learning and the perseverance for an ambitious future
