Each term we begin with an over arching theme but this changes due to our children’s interests.
This term we will begin learning all about ourselves. We will encourage children and parents to bringing in photographs to share with our friends. We will then discuss special times in our lives and paint pictures of ourselves and our friends. During this term we will begin to read a range of traditional tales such as The Gingerbread Man. We will discuss the setting, main characters and join in with repeated patterns. We will also visit Ten Town, where we will learn all about the numbers 0-5. Although it is tricky we will try to form some recognisable numbers too! To help us write we do daily Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle and Dough Disco which develops our gross and fine motor skills. As well as becoming aware of rhyming words we will also begin to identify some letters, which will eventually help us to read words. We will also celebrate a range of festivals, such as Bonfire night. We will make firework pictures using painting techniques and the computer. We will also learn about the Hindu festival of light- Diwali. We plan to have an Indian banquet and make Coconut Barfis.
