Head Teacher’s Welcome

Welcome from our Headteacher – Mrs Lucy Griffiths.

I am delighted to introduce our school website and I hope it gives you a brief insight into our aims and ethos as well as important information about our community school for 3-11 year olds.

South Hetton Primary School is proud to be a part of Tudhoe Learning Trust.  Jim Smith is the Director of the trust and can be contacted at Tudhoe Colliery Primary School, Front Street, Tudhoe, Spennymoor or via telephone: 01388 814 399.

We see our children as individuals and believe in nurturing the whole child. We strive to fulfil not only their academic success, but their musical, sporting and personal education and we provide a comprehensive curriculum with many opportunities to attend residentials and outdoor learning experiences. Our curriculum is broad, balanced and relevant. It is designed to help children become well rounded individuals that  show compassion, care and respect to everyone as well as strive to reach academic potential and aim high.

The curriculum doesn’t finish as the school day ends.  We have opportunities to participate in a range of clubs ran by our staff, secondary schools and community colleagues.

We place a high value on being part of a caring community and pride ourselves in having strong home school relationships. We hope you all join us and experience the vibrant happy atmosphere in our nursery and community school.

Mrs. L. Griffiths
